The Glass Barn retreat was purpose built for relaxation – an escape from the city - just off the main highway North close to the beautiful beaches of Waipu Cove and Ruakaka.
Enjoy the stunning 360 degree views New Zealand is known for – rolling green hills, fresh blue skies and sparkling water.
The complex houses a massive light-filled 256 square metre glasshouse with walls which slide open to the lawns and views.
Within the Glasshouse are four lush subtropical gardens – banana palms, frangipani and strelitzia tower up to the specially designed UV protected translucent roof.
The accommodation comprises three “baches” (New Zealand term for holiday home) which adjoin the Glasshouse
- one has a queen-sized bedroom and bathroom – crisp white linen, white interior and all white bathroom.
- the second comprises another queen-sized bedroom with the same fresh white interior and bathroom but also has a bunkroom with queen-sized bunks and viewing windows on each bunk level which children love.
- the third adjoining accommodation is the “living/dining” area – full modern kitchen .
After dinner – sink into big comfy couches – turn on some music or the plasma television and enjoy the cosiness of the gas fire in cooler weather. The unique environment enables you to enjoy a totally relaxing break and not worry about the weather. If the sun is out you can roll open the walls and invite the sunshine in. If the weather is not so warm you can cosy up inside – enjoy the garden environment, play a game of pool, take a soothingsteam sauna - have a glass of wine at the bar and enjoy the views.
There are two lounging areas in the Glasshouse as well. One is designed for morning coffee and reading in the sun - the other for afternoon sunshine and later beautiful sunset views, maybe playing pool and enjoying a blissfully quiet drink or two.
